Artist's Comments

There seems to be a lack of knowledge in the Pokémon universe, which is hard to understand. I mean, we're talking about a universe in which we have all sorts of high-tech gadgets, including teleportation devices and miniature balls used to effortlessly catch wild animal monsters. Scientists have access to the greatest of technology and limitless depths of scientific knowledge about the Pokémon world, and they're still clueless as to how the little creatures reproduce.

This revelation astounds me, when I think about it further. Hell, the people who run the Day Care don't even keep enough of an eye on their "visitors" to even witness any sort of egg creation process, if you catch my drift. And when the egg appears, it's as if it's some sort of grandiose miracle! As if some sort of mysterious stork Pokémon brings the things overnight! You think the Day Care overseers be the first on the cusp of scientific breakthrough!

Apparently not.

Of course, when you think about the subject at hand, there is the all-too-easy mismatch Pokémon breeding pair, the one involving size. Come on. Can you really imagine a Golem trying to breed with a Chikorita? Or maybe a pairing involving a Steelix and a Pichu? I don't even want to think of what a Wailord could do to any of these poor, little creatures. The idea scares me immensely.

Instead, I strayed away from the obvious size mismatch joke, and thought of other ways in which Pokémon could be considered "incompatible." I had caught a couple of Drifloon, as well as a Cacturne, and that got me thinking: what would happen if a balloon got too close to a cactus? The answer is obvious, but the joke was too sweet to overlook. Thus, you can understand the fear in this Drifloon's eyes as the amorous Cacturne motions suggestively towards its conquest.

Ouch.

Anyway, it's not like I don't understand the actual reason for the lack of sexual knowledge in the Pokémon series. It's fairly obvious that the series is aimed towards children, and protecting their fragile minds is a worthwhile cause, after all.

Sadly enough, this might be one of the last colored, digital works of mine you'll see for a while. I did this in a Trial version of Illustrator CS3, and I've only got seven days left (insert Ring reference here), and I doubt I can get anything else done by then.

The only noise you would hear is the title of the deviation itself. :O_o:

Maybe the Day Care overseers are deaf. I don't know.

In other words, unfit to take care of Pokémon.

Kind of like that blind, old lady down the street in the house that smells like cat piss.

I just checked, and, as I expected, they aren't compatible whatsoever.

Still, it is kind of humorous to think about these things.
